Snow is frozen water that falls from clouds. It is rain that has given up, gone white, and decided to take its time.[1]

Snowflakes

No two snowflakes are alike. This has been confirmed by scientists who have personally compared about 4,000 of them, and who report that the snowflakes, while all different, all melt the same, and usually on the evidence.[2]

Melting

When snow gets warm it becomes water, which may form a puddle. Snow that has melted is no longer snow, but still behaves as if it is owed an apology.
