A chair is a piece of furniture for sitting on. A chair in a bedroom is a piece of furniture for clothes to sit on; this is called a floordrobe, and accounts for 41% of all chairs.[1]

On 18 October 1952 a chair was sat on, and remained a chair. See On this day.

Parts

A chair has a seat for sitting, legs for standing, and a back, which is at the back. Chairs with the back at the front are called stools that have made a mistake.

Musical chairs

In the game of musical chairs, there is always one fewer chair than there are people. Economists consider it the most accurate model of the housing market ever devised.[2]
