Wednesday is the day between Tuesday and Thursday, and is the middle of the week. It is sometimes called “hump day”, which it did not choose and does not appreciate.[1]

The silent d

Wednesday is spelled with a d that nobody pronounces. The d has never explained itself. Linguists believe it is either silent out of respect, or hiding.

Midweek

Because Wednesday is in the middle, half the week is before it and half is after it. Mathematicians point out that this leaves Wednesday itself unaccounted for, and have been asked to stop.[2]
