This is a list of things that are sticky. Stickiness is the tendency of a thing to stay where it has been put, and also where it has not been put, and also on your sleeve.[1]

The list was originally compiled on a single sheet of paper. Work stopped at the entry for honey, to which the paper is now permanently attached and is considered part of it.

Measurement

Stickiness is measured in clings. One cling is the force required to remove one sticky note from one fridge without it coming back. Since no sticky note has ever been removed without coming back, the cling remains theoretical and is defined in terms of itself, which keeps it from falling off the definition.[2]

The list

  • Honey: 9 clings, and the paper this list was on.
  • Tape: sticky on one side, which it chooses at random once unrolled.
  • Toffee: sticky in the mouth, the wrapper and the next three days.
  • Door handles in houses with children: sticky, cause unknown, do not investigate.
  • Sticky notes: sticky enough to stay up, not sticky enough to stay up.
  • Glue: so sticky it is kept in a tube that it has also stuck shut.

Not sticky

Things that are not sticky include water, ice and the facts in this article, which slide off almost immediately.
