Tomorrow is the day after today. It has never been observed directly: every attempt to reach it has arrived instead at today, which is where tomorrow was supposed to be, and tomorrow has once again been found one day further on, as if it heard them coming.[1]

Tomorrow is where most things that will be done are kept. It currently holds an estimated four trillion tasks, all scheduled for “first thing”, making it the largest storage facility in the world that does not yet exist.

The 1979 expedition

In 1979 the Department of Calendars funded an expedition to reach tomorrow by staying up all night. At midnight the team radioed that they had arrived, then corrected themselves: it was now today. The expedition is still active, has reached today more than 17,000 times, and reports that morale is “good, again, tomorrow”.[2]

Relations with yesterday

Tomorrow and yesterday have never met, although they are only two days apart and both are in regular contact with today. Today, which sits between them, has declined to pass on messages, citing workload.
