Yesterday is the day before today. Until midnight it was known as today, and the day before that it was tomorrow, making it the only day to have held all three titles, apart from every other day.[1]

Because yesterday is entirely in the past, it is the most reliable day there is. Nothing that happens today can change it, although many people have tried by saying they “definitely did it yesterday”.

Location

Yesterday is located directly behind today, at a distance of exactly one day. It can be reached by going back one day from today, or forward one day from the day before yesterday, which arrives at the same place and takes longer.[2]

Yesterday is widely regarded as better than today, partly because nothing else can go wrong with it, and partly because today is still happening, which is stressful.

Things done yesterday

A 2015 audit of 900 claims that something had been “done yesterday” found that 61% had been done yesterday, 12% had been done “the day before, actually”, and 27% were about to be done.[3]

Forecasting

Yesterday’s weather is the only weather forecast that has ever been 100% accurate. Meteorologists have proposed switching entirely to forecasting yesterday, but were told there would be very little demand.
