Not to be confused with a boulder, which is a pebble that kept going.

A pebble is a small, smooth rock. It is what a boulder would be if it had settled for less, and pebbles are thought to be at peace with this.[1]

Pebbles are found on beaches, in rivers and inside shoes, where a single pebble is known to feel exactly the size of a mountain.

The shoe paradox

A pebble inside a shoe feels much larger than it is. Physicists explain this using the Theory of Relative Annoyance, which holds that the perceived size of an object is proportional to how far you are from the nearest place to sit down and take your shoe off.[2]

Skimming

A pebble thrown sideways at water may bounce several times before sinking. The pebble does not know it is doing this, and if it did, it would ask you to stop.

Economy

Pebbles are the official currency of the WinkyPedia donation programme. Inflation has remained at zero since launch, because pebbles are not being made any faster.
